SOLAR IMAGING
SOLAR PHOTOGRAPHY requires the use of a specialized tracking mount to keep the sun centered during imaging. The telescopes utilized are fitted with special multilayered lenses that block all but the very narrow spectrum of light produced by the sun's chromosphere. These filters are not the same as eclipse filters and are far more light restrictive. Again, never attempt to photograph or view the sun without specialized filters. Sun imaging uses a similar monochromatic astrophotography camera but images are captured at 10 millisecond captures. Hundreds of images are gathered over 20-30 seconds and then computer sorted and "stacked" to achieve the best possible resolution.
